Thrift+ Fashion Recycling
The Thift+ Story
Founded in 2017 by entrepreneur Joe Metcalfe, Thrift+ aims to make the charity shopping experience as good as the best online clothes retailers. Whilst making it easier for individuals and brands to re-sell unwanted items and give them a new life, ensuring fewer clothes end up in landfill. Money raised from items that re-sell, can also helps to raise important funds for charity. Thrift+ offers a way to help clean up the fashion industry and create a circular economy that reduces waste and builds a more sustainable future.
Rethink. Recycle. Relove Campaign
As part of the Fenwick Rethink. Recycle. Relove campaign we dedicated a window in each of Fenwick’s nine stores to Thrift+, in addition to in-store visual merchandising hot spots. These areas explained who Thrift+ were and encouraged customers to pick up a Thift+ donation bag in store. Encouraging customers to declutter their wardrobes and to gain back precious space.
Fenwick offered an added incentive, with every filled Thrift+ bag returned customers received 10% off* their next Fenwick purchase and earned credits to spend or donate to their favourite charity.
Store Ambassadors
In order to ensure the success of the Thrift+ partnership and to allow colleagues to confidently answer questions asked by customers, a store ambassador program was set up. This representative was trained on the wider Fenwick CSR strategy and objectives, alongside the Thrift+ role in helping Fenwick to achieve it’s sustainability goals.
