Fenwick Christmas Windows
The iconic Fenwick Christmas windows have long been a tradition in Newcastle, drawing visitors from across the UK and beyond. During the evening of the Christmas window reveal, Northumberland Street closes for an exclusive Fenwick invite-only event for 1000 people.
The 2025 Christmas windows were reimagined by Chris Riddell, celebrated author and illustrator, bringing a playful, heartwarming twist to Charles Dickens’ timeless classic, A Christmas Carol. The windows invite visitors of all ages to step into Dickens’ world.
For another year, Fenwick partnered with the Glasshouse International Centre for Music, developing the Christmas window music. James Thomas, Director of Royal Northern Sinfonia & Classical Music:
"For the fourth year running, The Glasshouse are joining forces with Fenwick – this year pairing their famous festive window with music performed by Royal Northern Sinfonia and conductor James Weeeks to kick off the season in style. Fenwick’s window is undoubtedly a fitting place to share Dicken’s A Christmas Carol and to accompany the sights, we’ve commissioned a special arrangement from Ian Anderson of the famous carol, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Ian worked with us for the BBC Prom with JADE, so he knows how to create music that shines with our orchestra."
